The first time I met Sherman was right before Pau and his wedding.  Pau had been talking about  him non stop for  just about forever.  At the wedding  I will never forget  Sherman stood up and sang a beautiful song to Pau who looked like a princess.  I didn't understand the  words but the love and devotion were unmistakable.  That was the first time Sherman surprised me.  Over the years eacht time  meeting Sherman led to another surprise.  First it was his  unexpected sense of humor.  Next he surprised me with his  way of making people feel comfortable around him no matter the situation.  And most recently his quiet dignity and grace facing an untenable situation.  Sherman Lee was truly an exceptional person and will not be forgotten.

Sherman was much loved here at Barnes & Noble. Those of us who worked with him were graced by his joyful, gentle, creative presence. He will remain in our hearts always. We have been very fortunate to have known him.

A fun memories to share with you ALL  . . .  back in Summer 1986.

Sherman's Mom is coming from California to New York (to visit him and check out how he's doing).

Back in '80s we were all simple and did not think too much . . .   I have a car and  time because I have just had my baby son.  As a good friend, of course I will help him to pick up his Mom. So we rush to the airport . . . . .

Poor Mrs. Lee - - - you should see her face . . .  who is this woman and baby standing next to Sherman ??

Nobody will forget those beautiful and joyful days of practices with you at Hsiang Yin Chorus. We cherish the performing memories we had on stage in Lincoln Centers or even at the subway station.  Your smile and wonderful singing will forever linger in our heart. God knows how much we all miss you!

5/4/07-Sherman's last day.....

It was about 10 a.m. when the nurse came in the room and sent me a signal to pick up the kids from school. By 11:00 a.m. Matt and Ariel were at their father's bedside. Matt decided to play piano for Sherman knowing that the hearing lasts longer than any other senses. TTo accommodate this lrequest, a piano was moved from the hallway into Sherman's room. Matt played for near 1 hour. Sherman was still indeep sleep. we prayed and prayed.

3 p.m.- nurse suggested us to send Matt and Ariel home because they felt Sherman might not wish to die in front his kids. They left. At 3:55 p.m. Sherman passed away peacefully. We remained in the room for 4 hours to continue our pray. Many friends were called to the hospital to continue the Marathone style praying. At 8 O'clock, when Minmei showed up with song books, we started to sing for Sherman some of his favorite songs until his body was picked up by the funeral home at 8:45 p.m.
