Mrs. Lee, Arial and Matthew,

I never had the opportunity to meet you but I heard so much about you all. Arial and Matthew, you were the precious stars in your Dad's life. You gave him so much honor, joy and love! He spoke with pride of your accomplishments and your character, your growth and your beauty. You were true blessings to your Dad.

Mrs. Lee, I am so very sorry for your great loss. You were so fortunate to have a wonderful man as your husband. My heart and prayers are with you and your family now and always.

God Bless,
Kathleen Bertini

啸宇弟弟,在80年代你年轻时给我的书信中,我看到有这么一个才华横溢、又那么率性的硕士弟弟,在信中你说自己“写信老是爱打圈涂改的……请大姐见谅”,此时一种骄傲之心和姐弟亲密之情油然而生;

Pau, I only met Sherman a few times but he was a sweet man with a gentle heart.  The many tributes expressed on this site are an amazing testament to the man he was.  I'm sure you and your children know how much he loved all of you.  May God's love and blessings surround all of you at this time to ease your sorrow and to know that Sherman is now in a peaceful and beautiful place.

Love and Prayers,

Kelly, Steve, Jenna, Anabelle, and John

Pau-I never met Sherman, I only knew him through your eyes and your words. His strength during the last few years will be a beacon to his children. I have read the notes of others who have written on this site and it seems that he has left a wonderful mark on those who remain behind. What better legacy than the wonderful thoughts of friends and family who were touched by him as he passed this way. I am sorry that I am not able to be with you during this time. Love and hugs...Adee

Pau, Matthew and Ariel,

Sherman's quiet smile and unexpected sense of humor will be missed. Even though I didn't see him often it is difficult to beleive he is no longer with us.

My deepest sympathy,  my heart is breaking for you and your whole family.

Surely, we will always remember his gentle manner and loving heart.

Dick Hartzell Merchandiser, bn.com May 8, 2007

I encountered Sherman often when I needed to have a book photographed for display on Barnes & Noble.com.  Not until he died and I visited this web site did I realize that he and I were almost the same age (he born in January of 1956, I in September of 1955) -- and that he had been battling cancer since I began working at bn.com in June 2002.

He never let on what he was up against. Even last winter, when he was enduring chemotherapy and wearing caps to hide his hair loss, he went about his job with a smile and with consummate professionalism.

He was a lovely man.  My heart goes out to his wife, children, and extended family.  Please accept my sincerest condolences.
